Michael’s Success Story

Meet Michael! Michael started with practicing his learners test with the support of his NDIS direct support workers, where each support Michael would practice with his workers on building the skills to then take the test.

In 2021 Michael passed his learners test and was officially on the road! Michael’s coordinator assisted with linking him in with services to support him in the car and on the road. With the use of these supports, Michael built the skills to safely drive a vehicle and further practice his learnt knowledge of the road rules.

In 2023, Michael went with his Coordinator of Supports/Recovery Coach to the RTA to sit his driver knowledge test, and passed with flying colours! Michael then went on to complete his driving test and got his Provisional 1 licence.

His next step was planning and budgeting for a car. His Coordinator of Supports worked with his Support Workers, Recovery Coach and his family to create a budget to save up for his first car, which he purchased in April this year.

Michael is now able to independently transport himself to social events and has the independence and freedom to manage other areas of his life.

Congratulations on all of your achievements, Michael.
