25th Annual Mental Health Art Works Exhibition Opening Night

What an incredible Opening Night of the 25th Mental Health Art Works Exhibition.

On Friday, 11 October, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Mental Health Art Works Exhibition with this year’s powerful theme: “Let’s Talk About It.” This exhibition is all about empowering individuals impacted by mental illness to share their journeys of hope, recovery, and personal growth through art.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the official opening, to every artist who entered and shared their personal journey and to our staff at Coast & Country Primary Care who made this special night happen and who have volunteered their time to bring the exhibition to life.

We were thrilled to hand out awards recognising outstanding contributions from local artists, and it was inspiring to hear from our incredible guest speakers Liesl Tesch MP, Ryan Edmondson from Central Coast Mariners and award-winning artist and our Ambassador, Garry Purchase Dream On By Garry Purchase. Thank you for your heart-felt words and moving stories. To Helena Brunner - Painting and Drawing, thank you for being a wonderful Ambassador and for your support of the Exhibition and it's purpose.

We’re grateful for the local organisations that sponsored this important community exhibition this year, including:

Central Coast Health

Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network

Coast Shelter

Rotary Club of The Entrancee

The Glen Rehab

Social Futures

And thank you for Yummy Delicious Cakes in East Gosford for the amazing 25th anniversary cake & cupcakes!

A special shout out to our incredible performers, including the talented dancers from The Glen Rehab for Women, Piper Butcher from Australian Idol, and local singer, Skye Agius. You were all amazing!

We also want to acknowledge our local MPs— Liesl Tesch MP, Adam Crouch MP, and David Mehan MP —for joining us in support of mental health in our community.

Finally, a special thanks to the Gosford Regional Gallery and Edogawa Commemorative Garden for hosting us, as well as the Central Coast Council for the grant to help us keep the exhibition going each year.

The Mental Health Art Works exhibition is on until Monday 21 October from 9:30am - 4pm daily at the community gallery at Gosford Regional Gallery and Edogawa Commemorative Garden. Please go check it out, there's an incredible display of art on show from our courageous local artists.
