PIR closure

Partners in Recovery (PIR) is a collaborative program that supports people with severe and persistent mental health concerns and complex needs, as well as their carers and families. It enables such individuals to commence a road to recovery that is tailored to their unique goals, hopes and ambitions. It does this by getting multiple sectors, services and supports on the Central Coast to work in a more collaborative, coordinated and integrated way. The primary goal is to improve the individual’s quality of life.

There have been some big changes to the Partners in Recovery program over the last 12 months that you should be aware of. The Government is changing how it funds programs, and you need to make sure are clear on how it affects you. CCPC will work with you regardless of which decision you make.

Our main role now is to assist people to move from PIR to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) – this is great news for people in PIR, as it means they will receive a support program from the Government that will be customised just for them. If you are in PIR, and you don’t want to join the NDIS, or are not eligible for the NDIS, then we will continue to provide support. However, you should know that the opportunities and supports within the NDIS are likely to be bigger/more comprehensive than your support under the PIR program.

If you remain on PIR (that is, if you DON’T have a package with the NDIS) we are now able to:

  • Assist you in getting your resume together, writing letters for jobs and attending interviews
  • Help you manage your health
  • Continue to link you to services who will support you.

Or perhaps you ARE interested in applying for the NDIS – we can help with that too. We can assist with getting the supporting documentation you will need regarding the day-to-day supports you need to manage in the community.

If you DO have an NDIS package we can now provide additional support to you. If you have supports in your package we can now provide things like:

  • Domestic support (cooking, cleaning, washing, transport, lawn maintenance and lots more)
  • Coordinating the supports you require to manage your life and lifestyle
  • Transport to and from appointments
  • Arranging access to other health providers (Psychologists, Podiatrists, Occupational Therapists and lots more)
  • Social and educational programs

We have a fun and exciting Social Activities calendar. You can join us for a coffee and a movie, go bowling and then BBQ, watch the Central Coast Mariners games, go bushwalking or on a bus trip for the day. We will pick you up and take you back home at the end of the activity. For many of these activities there is no charge. We will let you know if an activity has a cost to it.

If you are interested in any of these activities or would simply like some support to manage your day to day activities then feel free to call your PIR Support Facilitator on 4365 2294 to learn more. If you have any questions at all – we’re just a phone call away.
