Yesterday we officially launched the Health on The Streets program.
Health on The Streets (HoTS), is a Mobile Health Clinic that will provide health checks to people experiencing homelessness on the Central Coast. HoTS combines homeless outreach and clinical care from a custom-fitted medical van that will travel around the Central Coast and deliver healthcare to rough sleepers and people experiencing homelessness.
With approximately 50 guests joining us for the launch, we would like to thank everyone who was able to attend and help us celebrate this innovative new program, in particular Doctor Do More who spoke about homelessness on the Central Coast and the positive impacts of this program.
Special thanks to MP Lucy Wicks for working with us over the past few years to secure the funding that has allowed us to establish this program. MP Lucy Wicks gave an impassioned speech about her first-hand experience trying to assist rough sleepers and her experience referring people to our organisation to receive the help they need.
HoTS was officially launched with a ribbon cutting ceremony performed by MP Lucy Wicks and our CEO, Michelle Bradbury.
The support from local homeless services, healthcare providers and the general community on the Central Coast has been extraordinary and we believe that once established this program can be a whole of community approach – one where we can all make a difference.
