Ambassador: Garry Purchase
We are excited to announce that, in celebration of the 25th year of the Mental Health Art Works Exhibition, we are honoured to have the award-winning local Aboriginal artist, Garry Purchase, as our Official Ambassador.
“Being an ambassador gives me the opportunity to foster empathy, raise awareness, and encourage others to open up about their mental health journeys. I feel privileged to be able to inspire change, support mental well-being, and contribute to a community where every story is seen and valued.”
Ambassador: Helena Brunner OAM
We are are honoured to have Paralympian gold medallist, Paralympics and world record holder, Helena Brunner OAM join us as our latest Ambassador.
“I am honoured to be invited to be an ambassador for the Mental Health Art Works exhibition again this year. MAHW is important to me for a huge reason being that each year I can be more open towards expressing who I am through my art. I love to be able to share this ride with others in the "same boat" of mental illness and welcome them in and not row the boat alone. Breaking the stigma is a constant theme and this exhibition is all about this. I always hope in my heart that acceptance and support will flourish further.”

The Theme & Content of your Artwork
The theme of this year’s exhibition is: Let's Talk About It.
We encourage you to think positively about your participation. This is an opportunity for you to make constructive contributions and share your experiences of mental illness and recovery to help improve awareness and help-seeking behaviours that support recovery.
Your artwork is an opportunity to tell your story of hope, recovery, and growth through art.
Guidelines for Entering your Artwork
The following guidelines apply for entering artworks:
One entry submission will be accepted per person.
Artworks must be under 100 cm in width.
Artworks that are too delicate, loose and fragile will not be accepted.
All hanging artworks must be ready to hang with D-rings firmly secured 10cm from the top of the artwork. This includes stretched canvases and works on board. It will not be possible to display works that are not suitably finished or ready to hang.

Works on paper (e.g. watercolour, pastel, graphite) must be framed and ready to hang.
